An update to the SAI has been released. See the SAI installation documentation page for instructions on updating or installing this package.
Merge Documents
The Split Document tool has been renamed to Split/Merge and now includes this new tool. Use it to select a folder of files (or individual files in a folder, if on Windows) and merge them into one file.
Cleanup
- New options have been added to convert soft returns to hard returns and to autoscribe certain character styles.
- The dashes cleanup will now avoid converting dashes in DOIs.
- Clean Figures will now ignore figures in bkpub, crt, cip, and sec styles. These styles are typically applied to logos or decorative images that would utilize different markup than figures when producing ebooks.
- Running “Missing paragraph-ending punctuation” will no longer mark lines ending with the ellipsis character.
- The punctuation and white space cleanups in Punctuation Rendering can now be run at the same time.
Style Galleries
- A new option has been added to create a style gallery with all ScML styles in use in a file, in both the Style Galleries drop-down and the Manage Style Galleries window.
- A button to clear character styles from selected text has been added to the Style Galleries drop-down.
- Default Paragraph Font is now included in the common character styles gallery.
Note Manager
- A new option to insert periods or periods and tabs after note numbers has been added.
- The warning report indicating different note numbering in different sections has been improved and is now accessible through a dedicated button in the Warnings tab.
Title Case Rules
- Words that can be prepositions but more frequently are not (e.g., “like” or “up”) are now capitalized by default and flagged with a comment to review.
- If running a custom Find and Replace search to apply title case, the notification after the search will specify whether any comments regarding potential prepositions to review were added.
- If a hyphenated word uses a prefix, the term after the hyphen will be lowercased when using CMOS 17 as well as when using APA if it is fewer than four letters.
- Common foreign language articles are now lowercased.
Math Equations
These tools are designed to support math equations through the WFDW. Insert Equation Callouts adds a callout using Scribe’s standard formatting in front of every MathType equation, and Apply Math Construction Style applies the mconstruct style to MathML equations for conversion in the Digital Hub. Both tools require the use of the MathType add-in.
Other
- Restrict Editing: This tool’s interface has been redesigned, including a new button to browse and select a folder.
- User Settings: A new option has been added to use either full or abbreviated page ranges, which determines how potentially incorrect inclusive numbers are marked for editing.
- Vet File: Word joiners and soft returns are now reported.
- Find and Replace: Copy/paste buttons have been added for Mac users.
