Initial Preparation, Note Handling, and Character Rendering

  1. Load ScML Styles.
  2. Review and resolve potential note issues.
    1. Run Clean note markers from the Cleanup menu
    2. Open the Note Manager tool. Review the Warnings tab. If there are no warnings, this tab will read No Warnings. If there are warnings, resolve them before running any Hub conversions.
  3. Run Comp Group 1: Initial Prep from the Cleanup menu. If you have non-ScML character styles in the document, click Associate Styles.
    1. When the Associate Styles window appears, choose the option to hide ScML styles, unmapped “B” and “I” styles, and paragraph styles. This displays the non-ScML character styles only.
    2. Select each character style in the box on the left. Then click Find Selected Style to cycle through the instances of the style in the document.
      • If the style can be mapped directly to a single ScML character style, select the appropriate ScML style in the right box and then click Associate.
      • Note whether there are any non-ScML character styles that do not map to a single character style. For instance, sometimes Emphasis will be applied to both italic and non-italic text. When this is the case, do not associate the source style with a single ScML character style.
    3. Click OK to apply the style transformations.
  4. If there are non-ScML character styles that cannot be mapped to a single style, run Rendering under the Cleanup menu and select Overwrite non-ScML character styles.
  5. If there are still non-ScML character styles, associate any remaining character styles.
    1. Run Associate Styles from the cleanup menu.
    2. Use the dialog box to associate character styles only.
    3. To remove a character style, associate it with Default Paragraph Font.
